## Before Writing
- Read the RFP three times. Underline every criterion. The reviewer scores against these.
- Identify the funder's theory of change — mirror it back in your proposal language
- Know the word/page limits cold — never submit over limit

## Structure (Standard)
1. **Executive Summary** — one page, written last, sells the whole proposal
2. **Statement of Need** — data-driven, local and national statistics, ends with your solution as the obvious answer
3. **Goals & Objectives** — SMART objectives only (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)
4. **Methods** — who does what, when, and how; include a timeline table
5. **Evaluation** — how will you know it worked? What data, collected how, reported when?
6. **Budget** — every line justified; indirect costs explained if included
7. **Organisational Capacity** — proof you can deliver

## Language Rules
- Write to a program officer who is not a subject matter expert
- Every claim needs a citation or a data source
- Avoid jargon without defining it
- "We will" not "we hope to" or "we plan to"
